Lydiard House Jacobite Intrigues
Saturday June 9th and Sunday June 10th 2007
Lydiard Park is situated near Swindon, Wiltshire. Over this weekend, the site played host to an exciting 18th Century Event with a Jacobite Intrigues weekend.
There was an 18th Century Apothecary providing his "Cures" for all kinds of strange medical problems. He told the story of medicine and gave a fascinating insight into the world of Queen Anne, George I, and Henry St John (The owner of the house in 1707)
In attendance also were the supporters of James Stewart, the deposed King of Britain (The Old Pretender), who enlightened visitors to the important part that Lydiard House (almost) played in the restitution of this lost cause known to history as the "Jacobite Rebellion"

Many visitors were able to wander through our encampment in the Walled Garden, and pick up a memory from this fun filled day.

We hope to recreate history again in the near future - so keep checking the website for details!
